Professional Course FAQs

No, to work in a professional barbershop or if you want to offer services on your own, you must have a barber license issued by the state of California or any other state where you live and provide services.

No, the course is for professional barbering techniques. The training we offer at AVL Academy is a 12-week course where you learn professional techniques, new trends in cutting, and the management of professional products in the field of barbering. If you want to obtain a barber license, you must contact state-accredited schools that offer training for obtaining a license in California or any state of your preference. Remember, these schools only provide training and ensure you meet the state requirements for obtaining your license. Once you complete your training, you must go to a state facility to take a final exam, and upon passing, you will be issued your license.

This course is designed for both individuals with no experience and those who already have experience but wish to improve their techniques and gain more knowledge in the world of barbering, as well as experience a real salon environment. Remember that when pursuing a license, you start by learning more in-depth theory related to barbering, understanding state regulations, how to apply them when working with a real person, and you only receive basic cutting practice. The state does not focus on the outcome of the cut; it cares that you apply proper prevention, sanitization, and avoid causing irreparable harm to the person you work with or provide barbering services to. With our course, you learn 20% theory and 80% practical classes on a mannequin, applying basic and advanced techniques that help you learn how to perform trendy short haircuts and work with professional products used in the world of barbering. At AVL Academy, we offer you the opportunity to experience the barbering world before obtaining your license or to perfect your techniques once you have it.

You need to have a valid barber license issued by the state of California or by the state where you live and provide cutting services.

This course teaches you to master razor techniques for cutting and beard grooming; just remember that all our techniques are applied on mannequins, not on real people.
